Iran Launches Missile Strike on Israel in Major Escalation
June 14, 2025 – In a dramatic turn of events in the Middle East, Iran launched a large-scale missile attack on Israel late Friday night, marking one of the most significant escalations between the two nations in recent years. The strikes were claimed by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a “direct response” to recent Israeli operations targeting Iranian military and nuclear infrastructure.
According to Israeli military officials, more than 150 ballistic and cruise missiles were fired toward central and northern Israel. Israel's Iron Dome and David's Sling air defense systems intercepted many of them, but several missiles did penetrate the defense, causing explosions in populated areas. Preliminary reports confirm one fatality and over 30 injuries, with damage to homes, roads, and infrastructure in cities including Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.
Fox News reporter Trey Yingst, reporting live from Tel Aviv, was forced to take cover on-air as sirens blared and explosions were heard in the background. “This is something I haven’t seen in six years of reporting here,” he noted.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) called the attack a "declaration of aggression" and warned that retaliation could be swift and decisive. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu convened the national security cabinet in an emergency session and has already begun consultations with U.S. and European allies.
The Biden administration has pledged support for Israel and condemned the missile strike, while also urging both sides to avoid further escalation. The United Nations and NATO have called for immediate de-escalation and restraint to prevent a wider regional conflict.
This latest clash comes amid mounting tensions across the region, fueled by disputes over Iran’s nuclear program, proxy conflicts in Syria and Lebanon, and Israeli operations against Iranian assets.
