Blast Reported Near Burj Khalifa Amid Claims of Iran Missile Strike

Reports of a blast near the Burj Khalifa sparked widespread concern after viral videos showed smoke rising close to the world’s tallest building. The footage surfaced amid escalating tensions in the Middle East and claims that an Iranian missile or drone was involved. However, officials have not confirmed that the iconic tower was directly targeted or damaged. Authorities responded quickly, and investigations are ongoing as the situation continues to draw global attention.

Dark plumes of smoke appear in the distance in a circulating video, emerging shortly after reports suggested an Iranian drone had been sighted near the Burj Khalifa. Footage now making rounds online shows a blast and rising smoke close to Dubai’s iconic tower as tensions escalated following Iran’s response to strikes carried out by the United States and Israel.

The clip captures thick black smoke drifting into the sky shortly after witnesses claimed a drone linked to Iran had been seen near the landmark skyscraper. Authorities have yet to confirm whether the famous tower itself was deliberately targeted or if it sustained any damage during the incident.

Earlier in the day, the building had reportedly been cleared of occupants as blasts echoed in other parts of the city. Rising 828 metres above the skyline, the Burj Khalifa dominates the center of Dubai and is estimated to be valued at around $1.5 billion.

With sweeping views of the Dubai skyline and the Arabian Gulf, the landmark attracts millions of visitors annually who flock to its observation decks located on the 124th, 125th, and 148th floors. The tower is insured for roughly $1.5 billion by its developer, Emaar Properties, covering the core structure. Meanwhile, individual residences, hotel sections, and office spaces inside the tower carry separate insurance arranged by their respective owners.

Dubai was among the major Gulf cities that experienced heightened tensions as Iran pledged a “decisive response” to the attacks. Earlier, an explosion was reported near the famous Palm Jumeirah, where a building on the man-made island was seen engulfed in flames.

Images from the scene showed thick smoke billowing into the air while residents across the area reported hearing multiple loud blasts.A witness told the news agency Agence France‑Presse that emergency vehicles, including ambulances, rushed toward the location soon after the incident.

According to the Dubai Media Office, four people were injured and transported to hospitals for treatment. Officials also confirmed that the fire had been successfully contained. Authorities have advised both residents and tourists to remain calm and avoid sharing unverified images or videos of the incident on social media platforms.

Another video circulating online, shared by Nexta TV, appears to show a Shahed-type drone striking an area between two buildings in a densely populated part of the city. The impact triggered a powerful explosion, sending flames shooting into the air. Shahed drones are widely considered among the most lethal unmanned weapons in Iran’s arsenal.

However, officials have not confirmed whether a similar drone was responsible for the reported incident near the Burj Khalifa. The dramatic developments follow a wave of preemptive strikes launched by the United States and Israel on Iran earlier in the day under an operation reportedly called “Operation Epic Fury.”

The attacks came after days of speculation about potential action targeting the government of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Explosions were reported near facilities associated with the 86-year-old leader. Commenting on the strikes, Donald Trump warned Iran to “drop arms or face death,” defending the operation as necessary to protect American citizens.

In response, Iran swiftly shut down its airspace and promised firm retaliation. In a statement, Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the country’s armed forces would respond decisively to what it described as aggression, adding that while Tehran had been open to negotiations earlier, it now stood fully prepared to defend the nation.
