"Back to Working 24/7": Elon Musk Responds After Brief X Outage

Following Saturday’s X outage, Elon Musk hinted that he may have been away from his companies for too long, suggesting his absence could have contributed to the platform’s temporary disruption.

Elon Musk Vows to Refocus on Companies After X Outage, Signals Shift Away from Politics

Social media platform X (formerly Twitter) suffered a two-hour outage on Saturday, prompting owner Elon Musk to admit he may have been away from his companies for too long. The billionaire CEO said operational improvements were urgently needed after X's failover systems failed to respond properly.

“Back to spending 24/7 at work and sleeping in conference/server/factory rooms,” Musk wrote on X, adding that he must stay “super focused” on X, xAI, Tesla, and the upcoming Starship launch by SpaceX. The outage occurred just as hacker group DieNet claimed responsibility for a test cyberattack, though the claim remains unverified.

The incident comes amid growing scrutiny of Musk’s recent political involvement. Once a central player in U.S. President Donald Trump’s effort to downsize the federal government, Musk has been gradually distancing himself. Last week, he confirmed he had scaled back his work with the so-called “Department of Government Efficiency” to one or two days per week.

Musk, who contributed over $235 million to Trump’s campaign, remains a close advisor and attended a meeting with the South African president at the White House earlier this week. However, signs point to a pivot back to business as Tesla shares fluctuate and backlash over federal spending cuts mounts.

Acknowledging setbacks in his political goals, Musk recently said he plans to reduce his campaign spending but hasn’t ruled out future involvement. “I did what needed to be done,” he remarked.

As SpaceX readies for its next Starship test flight, Musk’s renewed focus on his companies signals a potential end to his intense political chapter at least for now.
