The worlds of fiction and reality collided at Milan Fashion Week.
On Saturday, September 27, Meryl Streep surprised attendees at the Dolce & Gabbana Spring/Summer 2026 runway, appearing as Miranda Priestly while filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 in Milan.
Streep, 76, watched the show from the front row next to her co-star Stanley Tucci, who seemed to embody Nigel Kipling, the Runway art director from the movie. Sitting across from Streep was former Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, the real-life inspiration for Miranda Priestly. Behind them, co-star Simone Ashley, playing a new character in the sequel, joined the group after the show.
Prior to the event, Streep and Wintour, 75, met and appeared to enjoy each other’s company, as captured in a Vogue Instagram video showing the pair hugging and chatting by a leopard-print backdrop.
Streep fully embraced her Miranda Priestly persona, wearing a camel-colored latex trench coat with a leopard-print belt and clutch, black trousers, white sunglasses, and satin pumps, paired with her signature white-gray cropped hairstyle.
Wintour opted for a vibrant floral maxi dress paired with snakeskin heeled boots, layered gold chain necklaces, black sunglasses, and her classic bob haircut.
Tucci, 64, dressed in a black shirt with a gray waistcoat and tailored pants, while Ashley, 30, looked stylish in a black mesh corset matched with a high-waisted gold mesh D&G skirt, gold hoops, and black sunglasses.
Earlier in August, Streep was seen wearing a striking red ballgown as Miranda Priestly while filming a Met Gala-inspired scene for the sequel. Scenes for The Devil Wears Prada 2 were also shot at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, featuring Streep, Tucci, and several other cast members.
The sequel will reunite original cast members, including Anne Hathaway as Andrea “Andy” Sachs and Emily Blunt, returning as Miranda’s former senior assistant Emily Charlton.
Variety reports that the story follows Miranda Priestly navigating her career amidst the decline of traditional magazine publishing, while facing competition from Blunt’s character, now a luxury group executive controlling advertising budgets critical to Priestly.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is scheduled for release on May 1, 2026.
